My ex-wife tries to dominate me…..

by Rod Smith

“My ex-wife still tries to dominate me and interfere in my life. I have moved on and have a new woman. My teenage daughter and I have a very good relationship but whenever my ex-wife is around I am reminded why I divorced her. How do I get her to understand she is divorced and must get a life of her own?”

Your mutual connection, the daughter whom you co-parent, will remain integral to both of your lives. It will therefore be to the advantage of all concerned if you remain kind, forthright and strong in all of your dealings with the woman whom you once loved enough to marry.

Include your “new woman” in as many interactions with your ex-wife as possible. This will serve as a constant reminder to your ex-wife that you have, in fact, moved on.

As an aside, I’d suggest that while your ex-wife’s behavior continues to elicit a strong reaction from you, you may not have “moved on” as much as you might think.

You remain as powerless over your ex-wife as you were when you were yet married. I’d suggest you take time to evaluate the reasons she can so effectively get under your skin. What is it about you, that her behavior so gets to you?

  1. An important announcement from a fellow blogger, please read and post. 🙂

“If” your blog gets marked as a “mature” blog new readers won’t be able to find your new posts via tags or search engines. You’ll be lost to new readership. “Mature” doesn’t mean “bad” it just means not for kids (at the minimum). If you have a suggestion for WordPress to fix this form of censorship you can submit it here:

Scroll to the bottom, topic = mature blogs, you fill in the body, tags = mature blogs, and suggestions.
My suggestions were to make it like over at YouTube where they have a page pop up warning of “mature” content, and if you’re still interested, they sign up and say “let me in” and boom, you’re in there.
The other idea is to make it a toggle switch in the dashboard, kind of like what Google has. If you don’t want your results to be filtered, you turn the filter off. It’s as easy as that.
If you have any better ideas, let them know, or feel free to copy and paste my idea, and send it to WordPress, or just tell them “something” should be done. The point is, the more people they hear from, the better it will be for everyone, bloggers and readers alike.
Thank you for your time, and I hope your cooperatioin.

  2. Correction: Your site will still be available to search engines but you will not get the search engine “bump” from being listed on the tag and category pages as well as the “traffic bump” from being a part of the WordPress community.
